Introduction

Hi! I’m Suzanne. I’m glad you’ve found my blog & I hope you enjoy it! To help you get to know me a little bit, here are some things I love (in random order):

  • My husband, Josh (or Schnookims, if you read this post)
  • Our kitty, Alan Trammell (we usually call her “Bea”)
  • Our Home – it’s constantly evolving
  • Vintage shopping
  • Gardening
  • Living simply (or at least giving it a whirl)
  • the Gospel – it’s pretty much everything!
  • Crepes – mmmm..
  • Spending time with our wonderful family & friends
  • Dancing with our nephew Thomas
  • Lots of things from this list
  • Our town (Grand Rapids, Michigan)
  • Reading on the back porch
  • My job (working for my dad’s jewelry studio)
  • Swimming
  • Peonies
  • Sharpie pens in every color
  • Coffee

My lifestyle is somewhat dictated by the fact that I have cystic fibrosis, a genetic lung disease. Check out the menu on my Story Time page for more on health-related stuff. I’m a pretty high maintenance girl in some ways, so I try to keep it simple when I can.

Thanks for checking out my blog! I hope you stay a while. *Pretend I’m grabbing a cup of coffee for you, then adding it to my list of things I love*

  1. Hiya!
I actually AM sipping a cup of coffee here at your old dig: the Other Shop 🙂
I’ve been catching up on your entries from this past week.
As you probably know, I have always loved vintage/antique furniture, art and still-functional household items. You are the first person I know that has been able to follow the yen for wearable “vintage” and do it with such flair! It looks good on you, whereas on me it would just look like I cleaned out the back of someone’s closet.
    Thanks for all the updates!
    Love, Barb

  2. Hi,
I am 29 with Cf and would love to follow your blog if thats ok with you. I would love to have someone my age to talk to 🙂

  3. Looking forward to reading your blog. And… I have those boots, too!

    • I’m glad you’re here! & I must compliment on your boot choice. I plan on wearing mine until they are worn right into the ground. I’ll miss ’em when they’re gone!

  4. Hi, I just saw your sweet comment on my blog, 365 Heartbeats, and wanted to let you know I’d LOOOOOOOVE to include you in my project. Email me at: nfasolino@mac.com so we can sort something out.xxxx

I am not too sure how I have landed on your Space as I am sort of browsing here, there and everywhere and so while you are busy making the coffee I will just witter on a little and welcome you to take a look around My Gothic Realm, it is not a scary place and is indeed rather welcoming but I would suggest bringing along some Garlic chewing gum, a wooden mallet and a good supply of sharpened stakes as the journey could be a little wicked, especially with all those Vampires, Werewolves, Ghouls and Zombies lurking around, but don’t worry they are friendly fiends…

Is my coffee ready yet? 🙂 Well I hope that I haven’t put you off calling by for a glimpse, or maybe just for a small peep perhaps? lol… Right instead of me waffling on for another hour or three I will finish my cup of coffee, shake your hand and say “Thank you for the very nice welcome and of course for the delicious coffee”.

Have a wondrously nice rest of day
and equally a wickedly awesome evening

    Androgoth

  6. Androgoth,

Thanks for stopping by! Not sure what drew you in, must be my garlic-flavored coffee. How’d you like it? 🙂

  7. Hi again! What is your email? You can send it to me if you’d like, kristinagulino@gmail.com. I have a question for you sister!

  8. I love coffee, so thanks! So nice to “meet” you in the blogosphere. 🙂

I was just reading Atul Gawande’s book Better, and there’s a whole section about CF in there. Amazing. I am very much looking forward to perusing your blog. Yay!

    • Wow, thanks for the book referral! I’m always interested for new ones, although I am a little leery about reading CF stories for obvious reasons. But I’ll definitely check it out!

And welcome to the blog.. Nice to “meet” you too! 🙂

  9. You are one bundle of cuteness. What a lovely blog you have created! I’m really enjoying it. Thank you also for stopping by mine 🙂 Looking forward to our future connections and mutual inspirations!

  10. Thanks for commenting on my blog! Yours is super cute too, I’m especially impressed by the photography!

    • Ha, thanks! I’m trying to work on the photography thing.. Although I really don’t know the first thing about it. Lots to learn!

      Thanks for stopping by. 🙂

  11. Crepes and Sharpies …. Mmmmmmmm! Luckily, we’ve found both in Romania. =>

  12. Congratulations! You have won 2 blogging awards:

    From me to you 🙂

    Enjoy!

  13. Suzanne,

Thanks for your comment on my blog today, it lead me to your blog.. which by the way- is amazing. I look forward to following it!

  14. Hi Suzanne! Thanks for commenting on my blog! I just started reading yours and am hooked! I see you are from Grand Rapids, I also live in Michigan just outside of Lansing. I’m excited to read more of your blog and hope to see your comments on mine again! 🙂

  15. P.S. How did you get your Pinterest link? I followed you, but would like to put a link to my Pinterest on my own blog!

  16. Love the photo – and I, too, have an addiction to Sharpie’s in every color! (:

  17. Suzanne, thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting on the giant bookcase.

Reading your “Story” is amazing–you are very young to have had so much difficulty and I can tell that you handle illness with grace.

I have had chronic illness for about 15 years (I’m 54) and it was a shock when it arrived and continues to be surprising that I’m not well. Dang! Living with grace has been my goal; mostly just continuing to live my life and doing as much as I’m able is what I do. Some days it does get old…. but I pop out of that mode and go work in the garden!

    Best to you–
    Laurel

    • Hi Laurel! I’m glad you “popped over”. I think it’s always encouraging to hear how other people live victoriously through difficult situations, despite the outcome. So thanks for sharing your story too!

I always feel better after spending time in the garden too. 🙂

  18. PS. I forgot to tell you that I was born in Royal Oak! Small world.

  19. Hahahaa! I’m laughing at the coffee thing. Here’s why…when you left me a note on my blog a bit ago I responded with something like…”Your site looks delightful…I think I’m gonna need a cup of coffee and some quite time!” I had yet to notice your “…Lets sit back, Sip our coffee, and hang out for a while.” intro thing on the side bar of your blog. 🙂
Love that picture of you in your outdoor gear and thermos! Too cute.
I believe I found a lovely new blog to read.
    🙂

Love the blog and your story! I have seen a handful of patients with CF over the last few years and it’s incredible to see [read] how you’ve dealt with that and having ovarian cancer (at such a young age?!).

Your blog is really inspiring and I’m glad I stumbled upon it. Can’t wait to read more!

And here’s to being from Michigan!

    • I’m glad you like the blog! 🙂 Thanks for stopping by.

Oh, and just to be clear, I didn’t actually have ovarian cancer. When my tumor was removed they discovered that it was benign all along. So thankful for that! 🙂

  22. Hey Suzanne,

I’ve “nominated” you for the Kreativ Blogger Award, which basically just means that I’m letting my readers know that I love your blog, and I’m linking them to you in this post (http://metamedication.wordpress.com/2012/04/09/kreativ-blogger-award/)

Don’t feel any pressure to perpetuate these things…they’re kind of like the WordPress version of chain letters. But if you want to, you can write a post telling your readers 7 things they may not know about you, and “nominating” 7 other bloggers for the award.

Regardless, I hope more people find your blog because it is great. See you around!

    • Hi Jacob, Thanks so much! How kind of you. I’ve seen these going around some and every now & then I’ll participate but for now I think I’ll just say thank you. And I’m glad you like this blog o’ mine. I’m interested to see what other blogs you tagged, so I’ll go check it out right now!

  23. I stumbled upon your blog randomly but I just realized I recognized your name – my husband Matt (Terpstra) know your husband from HS, basketball, fantasy football, etc. I’m excited I found your blog!

  24. Love your blog… thanks for the inspiration1 g*

  25. Loving your blog! Like a breath of fresh-blog air! Looking forward to reading the posts to come!

    • Aw, thanks for stopping by! I popped over to yours too & I loooove your photos, it makes farm life look so fun. 🙂

      Nice to “meet” you!

  26. You’ve been nominated for the Reader Appreciation Award. If you like to play along with such antics, pick it up at http://colourcottage.wordpress.com/2012/10/09/reader-appreciation-award/ If you don’t, your blog is still appreciated. 😉

  27. Hi. I just happened to come across your blog today by chance and am so glad I did; very inspiring!! Had to follow.
    Blessings!

  28. Howdy! Someone in my Myspace group shared this
