Someone sent Grandma a box of persimmons from California a few weeks ago because she loves them. She was so excited that she promptly gave several of them away (boy is she a sharer). Josh & I ended up with one, our first one, since neither of us had tried persimmons before.

According to Grandma, you let them ripen until they’re soft and squishy. To eat them, you cut them in half and eat them with a spoon, leaving the skin.

So we tried it. And I have to say it’s not my favorite! Ha. You probably thought I was going to say I loved it, right? Didn’t love it. Didn’t hate it either, but next time I get a persimmon given to me, I’ll probably make it into persimmon bread.
