Yesterday I attended my first “Gender Reveal” party ever. Have you heard of them before? The whole point is for expecting parents to get their people all together and announce the gender of their baby on the way, so everyone finds out at the same time.
The excitement level got amped up to a gazillion yesterday because this baby is either going to be our niece or nephew – ahhh! Ryan (Josh’s brother) and his wife Jenna are the proud parents, and it’s the first Brandsen baby, so.. Yeah. We’re pretty pumped.
Ryan cut the cake, which was either colored blue for boy or pink for girl..
Boy!! Look at those big grins!
Being an aunt is my favorite. Favorite! And I can’t wait for this little guy to arrive. With our niece coming in just over a month (ish?) and this guy coming in the fall, this is fixing to be a year we never forget. In the best way!

Yes, those grins…says it all doesn’t it!?
Good photo’s!

SUCH a cute idea – never heard of it! I do heart me some cake…Congratulations! I also enjoy being an auntie
Yeah apparently this is a new concept? But who am I to turn down a party?
This idea is new to me and i like it.
Good!
Their original idea was to tie her sister’s yorkie to a bouquet of balloons (pink or blue) and have her float up the stairwell.. But it just didn’t work out that way. haha
Babies are so awesome.
Aw, I’ll take your word for it!
And I’m looking forward to lots of baby snuggling time coming up this summer/fall.
It’s such a fun concept! I just heard about these parties a few months ago… I think it’d be pretty exciting to all find out together!
Hi Lauren, actually for this one Ryan & Jenna found out at the appointment.. And then they told all of us family at the same time. But I think some people do wait & actually find out at the same time as everyone else.. So many options, right?
Nathan and I had a gender reveal party when I was pregnant with Bailey! We bought a girl and a boy outfit and had our Dr. write down the gender and put it in an envelope. Then we gave both outfits and the envelope to some friends of ours. They put the correct outfit in a big box filled with balloons and tissue paper. We had a party with our close friends and family and opened the box to find a little dress
It was so much fun!
Aww! Did you write about that on your blog, Amanda? I feel like I can picture it, which is either weird or just remembering your post.
I’ve never heard of a gender reveal party, but that’s a really cool idea! Plus…extra cake. =)
Exactly! AND they made TWO cakes, so they were ready for the news. Better yet!
